Have you met Larry the cat who lives at 10 Downing Street?

Larry the cat has been living at 10 Downing Street since 2011. He was adơрted from a rеscuе shelter during the term of Prime Minister David Cameron and was given the title of Chief mouse catcher. There were a lot of mice in the Prime Minister’s residence and they needed help catching the mice.

Enter Larry the cat.

He came highly recommended by the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home for his mice-catching skiIIs. Unfortunately, just likе any other cat, he didn’t need to prove himself to any human. He was named “Lazy Larry” and they thought of firing him. But come on, who can resist this adorable cat?

Apparently, the Prime Minister can’t because Larry stayed.

And Larry stayed longer than the Prime Ministers without even doing anything. From stray cat to royal cat, not bad, Larry, not bad. He has even become a social media star with over 814K followers on Twitter. People are hanging on to his every tweet.

But what does he really do at 10 Downing Street? Has he ever caught a mouse?

To answer that question, yes he has. During his first few months at 10 Downing Street, he caught a lot of mice. And then the following year, another cat took up residence in the same place and they have been working ever since, He wanders around the grounds. He greets the guests coming in and helps the security guard the Prime Minister’s Residence. It’s a very important job. Sometimes, he will let some people pet him but only some people.

But Larry the cat does have a weakness. When it’s raining, he wants to stay inside. The problem is the main entrance doesn’t have a cat door. In order to gain access back inside, Larry will have to wait for someone to open the door.

On this particular day though, it pays to befriend the police guarding the residence.

The police officer on duty saw that Larry was waiting outside for someone to open the door. But there were no guests and who knew how long before the people inside will notice that Larry is getting rained on outside. He did the next best thing.

The police officer knocked on the door. Immediately, the door opened and Larry was able to walk inside, thanks to the police officer on duty.
